集群后的动物有时能增加存活率，降低死亡率，其种群增长情况较密度过低时为佳，即种群有一个最适的密度（optimaldensityofpopulation），种群过密（overcrowding）和过疏（undercrowding）都是不利的，都可能产生抑制的影响。
